What was the problem?
The customer planned an extensive development project with a working capital-optimized approach. The goal was to keep capital commitment as low as possible – without compromising on quality, delivery reliability, or technological control. At the same time, it was important to the customer to retain control over development expertise despite outsourcing production.
How was it resolved?
To achieve this goal, it was decided to outsource series-optimized development to an external partner who could take over both the procurement and pre-financing of the raw materials.
FMA Mechatronic Solutions was chosen due to its experience in mechatronic system manufacturing, flexible procurement management, and transparent project management.
FMA took over the pre-financing of raw materials and ensured that lot and batch sizes were optimally aligned with production and sales planning by placing orders based on demand. This resulted in a cost- and resource-efficient project approach that significantly reduced the coordination effort required by the customer's purchasing department.
What were the individual steps involved in the collaboration?
FMA Mechatronic Solutions' approach comprised six structured steps:
- Construction of the prototype
- Documentation including initial sample test report

What was the result?
Over a period of more than two years, ten different assemblies (approx. 400 pieces per slot) were procured, assembled, tested, and delivered in returnable packaging by FMA. The result: minimized capital commitment, reduced internal costs, and maximum process reliability – while maintaining consistently high quality and on-time delivery.
